The winter season is coming to an end. Here come the beautiful scents of spring time. But along with all this beauty and an opportunity to enjoy outside activities comes the pollen and allergens of spring. If you also happen to suffer from dry eye symptoms, it is not an enjoyable time of year.

How do I know if my eyes are dry?

Symptoms of dry eyes include:

  • Sensitivity to light

  • Burning eyes

  • Fluctuating, blurry vision especially when concentrating or during screen time

  • Grittiness

A few tips to manage dry eyes at home!

Morning:

  • Take Omega 3 capsules after breakfast. Omega 3 contributes to the lipid layer of the tear film and reduces evaporation of the tears!

During the day:

  • Try to reduce the eyes’ exposure to air-conditioning or wind.

  • Use lubricating eye drops 3 to 4 times per day.

  • Make sure to blink completely and frequently while using a computer or cell phone.

Evening:

  • Make sure to remove all makeup especially eye makeup properly.

  • Spectacle warehouse offers wipes that are great for removing makeup and that is safe for your eyes and skin.

  • Use a clean warm compress on the eyes for at least 10 minutes, 3 times per week to warm up and stimulate the Meibomian glands.

  • Use a lubricating eye drop before bed.
